Petrol price Rs 225 per liter? Big demand

Govt adjusts fuel levy rates to rebalance prices

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded a reduction in the prices of petroleum products.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced nationwide protests to reduce the prices of petroleum products.

In a message on the social networking website X (formerly Twitter), Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that nationwide protests will be held on Friday, June 19, to reduce the prices of petrol.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will hold big protests against inflation at all district headquarters on Friday, now a reduction in the price of petrol by Rs 10 or 15 will not work.

Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the time has come to immediately bring the price of petrol to Rs 225 per liter, freeze petrol prices for three years, oil prices in the global market are continuously falling after the Iran-US agreement.

The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that the government is collecting Rs 150 in taxes, including a levy of Rs 116 per liter of petrol, for its treasury. The levy on petrol should be reduced immediately.

He said that the prices of electricity and gas should also be reduced. For how long will the poor and middle-class people of Pakistan bear the burden of the royal treasury?

The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami has appealed to the people, especially the youth, to participate fully in the June 19 protest.
