Punjab extends free solar panel scheme until December 2026

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to extend the free solar panel scheme by six months, with additional funds to distribute more solar systems.

On the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the scheme has been extended till December 2026. A total of more than 94,000 systems will be provided, costing around Rs 10 billion.

Free solar systems will be provided to low-income consumers through a lottery.

The scheme will be implemented in all districts and tehsils of Punjab. More than eight lakh applications have been received so far. Earlier, the scheme was announced till June 2026.
