LAHORE: In a ceremony at the Chief Minister’s Office in Lahore honoring top examination achievers, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that the government will provide laptops to students rather than “sticks and stones.”
For the first time, the ceremony included the parents and teachers of the top achievers. CM Maryam praised the students for their dedication and the pride they brought to their families and educators.
She noted the legacy of Shehbaz Sharif, who started the laptop initiative in 2011 and reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting education by continuing the scheme.
CM Maryam congratulated the parents for their hard work and sacrifices, emphasizing that investing in education will help make Pakistan proud internationally.
Reflecting on her challenges, CM Maryam shared that seeing the students honored brought tears to her eyes, despite her hardships. She highlighted that education and healthcare are top priorities, promising that students from nursery to class 5 will receive milk as part of their well-being commitment.
The event celebrated the achievements of the students and the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to support education in the province.
