ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission has formally announced PhD scholarships for the year 2027 admissions under the “Pak-US Knowledge Corridor” program.
These scholarships are for talented students from Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir who want to pursue a PhD degree from top 100 QS world-ranking universities in the United States.
The HEC said that this scholarship is only for PhD programs; it does not include Master’s, MS or MS leading to PhD.
HEC has divided the scholarship into two categories based on the ranking of American universities; the first category includes the top 50 QS-ranked universities.
Full tuition fees, an annual stipend of US $ 19,200, and annual health insurance support of US $ 2,000 will be provided as per the university invoice.
A GRE general score of at least 300 or a minimum score of 60% in the HEC HAT test is required for admission to a top 50 US university.
Category 2 (51 to 100 QS ranking universities), which will provide tuition fee support of up to US$ 12,000 per year, a stipend of US$ 19,200 per year, and US$ 2,000 per year health insurance.
For admission to a US university, a GRE general score of at least 300 or a minimum of 60% marks in the HEC HAT test should be obtained.
The candidate applying for the scholarship should have completed at least 16 years of education (BS, BSc, BE, or equivalent degree), with no second (2nd) or third (3rd) division in the entire academic career.
The upper age limit for government employees, regular faculty members of public sector universities or government colleges, and researchers of approved R&D institutions is 40 years, while the upper age limit for all other candidates is 35 years.
In addition, the candidate should not already be receiving any other scholarship.
Interested candidates are advised to first get admission in HEC-approved subjects from an American university and then submit their applications through HEC’s online scholarship portal. For detailed information, the official website of HEC can be visited.
