ISLAMABAD: Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik said on Friday that the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) is planning to set up model examination centres equipped with modern facilities to improve the examination standards of students.

According to the FBISE chief, each centre will have a library along with computer and science laboratories for conducting theoretical and practical examinations. He added that the controlled examination centres will provide a more organized and transparent process.

Dr Malik said that land has already been allocated for the project, although final approval is still awaited.

Allaying concerns regarding examination fees, Dr Malik announced that a special committee has been formed to recommend a mechanism for waiving fees for students from low-income families.

He said that free education will be provided to students already registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme or other welfare institutions and no fee will be charged from those deemed eligible.
