ISLAMABAD: The Special Court of the FIA Commercial Banking Circle (FIA CBC) has initiated proclamation proceedings against Malik Riaz, the head of Bahria Town, and his son Ali Riaz in connection with two major money laundering cases – FIR Nos. 58/25 and 59/25.

During today’s hearing, the court issued a clear and stern warning, stating that if the accused do not appear before the court by October 13, 2025, they will be officially declared as proclaimed offenders, and strict legal action will follow in accordance with the law.

In FIR No. 58/25, the accused Atta Hassan and Sajjad Hadier appeared in court, and copies of the case documents were distributed. In FIR No. 59/25, the accused Atta Hassan and Muhammad Imran were also present and received their respective case copies.

However, a key accused, Khalil-ur-Rehman, failed to appear in both cases. His legal counsel submitted a medical excuse seeking exemption from personal appearance, citing illness. The court, however, rejected the excuse, calling it a delaying tactic, and issued strong remarks:

“Delays under the guise of illness will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

The court further ordered that no case documents would be provided to Khalil-ur-Rehman unless he appears in person before the court.

Additionally, the judge instructed that witnesses must be produced at the next hearing, warning that any failure to comply would lead to the strictest legal consequences.

The court adjourned the hearing of FIR No. 58/25 to September 15, 2025, and FIR No. 59/25 to September 17, 2025. However, the court’s tone made it abundantly clear that further delay tactics will not be entertained, and the legal process will continue with full severity.
