Punjab Govt okays upgrade of 200 afternoon schools

LAHORE: The Punjab provincial government has approved the upgrade of 200 afternoon schools, allowing them to be taken up from primary to higher education.

According to official details, the multi-billion rupee project will cost Rs 470 million. Of these, 64 schools have been included under the pilot project, while 136 new schools will be upgraded in this phase. The finance department has already released Rs 100 million as the first installment for the initiative.

The project will run from April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027. District education authorities have been directed to submit reports on the use of funds.

In addition, the government has also issued guidelines for the recruitment and payment of salaries of teachers to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
