Merit list displayed for Punjab CM Maryam Honhaar scholarship programme

LAHORE: In an educational development, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Honhaar Scholarship programme that seek to reach out to students on the basis of merit and free of any concerns about their tuition.

And the provincial government plans to provide 120,000 scholarships over a period of four years covering 100 percent of the tuition fees of selected students.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria include but are not limited to: domicile from any district in Punjab; age up to 22 years; family monthly income not greater than Rs 300,000.

Selected students should enroll themselves in selected disciplines at chosen universities or colleges during Fall Session of 2024. The proposed scholarships will also cover students who have joined their first-year MBBS and BDS programs in 2024.

The cut-off percentage of minimum marks in FSc/Intermediate varies from institution to institution; public sector medical and dental colleges require a mark of more than or equal to 80 percent, while federal and private universities demand more than or equal to 70 for the sciences and 65 for the arts and social sciences.

The public sector universities ask that sciences more than or equal to 70 be provided by HED colleges with a remark of equal to or more than 65 percent. The HED college needs a percentage from all sciences onward equal to 65 percent and social sciences onward equal to 60 percent.

Provincial Merit List

The provisional merit lists are already issued by the government for public and private sector universities, medical, dental colleges, and HED colleges, pending document verification regarding monthly family income as per the conformant eligibility criteria by the Institutional Scrutiny and Verification Committee and the Provincial Scrutiny and Award Committee.

This scholarship is the biggest leap in the promotion of education in Punjab, and it is joyous that the government actively thinks about various ways to contribute to the youth.
