PMA calls for reconducting MDCAT exam in Sindh

HYDERABAD: The representatives of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Hyderabad chapter have demanded re-conduct of MDCAT test in Sindh on complaints of paper leak and demanded exposure of those involved in the failure.

As per the details, PMA President Dr. Agha Taj, newly elected President Dr. Sohail Almani, Vice Presidents Dr. Aslam Chohan and Dr. Inayatullah Memon and General Secretary Dr. Ashfaq Qureshi said in a news conference at the local press club on Sunday that MDCAT Exams are always under controversy.

They said that this year’s re-examination was hit by complaints of paper leakage, and it showed that the entire examination system was riddled with loopholes.

They lamented that the examination had been mired in scams for the past several years, but this year’s irregularities broke all records. He said it’s now being debated in the streets and includes litigation that could delay the school year.

They demanded that all those responsible for the irregularities in the conduct of the examination be exposed and called for a re-conduct of the test. He said that the entire process should be made transparent, and the examination should be digitized.

They expressed regret that even today the required facilities have not been provided in government hospitals, which has made it impossible to provide quality health facilities to the people.

They said that doctors, nurses and paramedics are facing serious problems including security issues. They said that improvement in the health sector is linked to the involvement of talented and competent human resources.

They said that the promotion of specialist doctors should be finalized immediately and BDS seats should be increased. They demanded that medical officers should be recruited, and the services of doctors and contract doctors should be regularized in PPHI.

They said that the pending issue of group insurance should be completed, and health cards should be issued. They said that better health facilities should be provided to the rural population and rural health centres should be upgraded.

They urged the government to make better security arrangements in government hospitals so that doctors can work in a peaceful and conducive environment.

They also demanded the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the extrajudicial killing of Dr. Shahnawaz.
