KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially announced a public holiday in the last week of December in view of two important occasions. The Services, General Administration and Coordination Department has issued an official notification.
According to the notification issued by the Sindh government, there will be a public holiday across the province on December 25 on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Day and Christmas, while December 26, 2025, will also be a holiday for government employees belonging to the Christian community.
According to the notification, a holiday will be applicable on December 25 in all government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils under the Sindh government.
On that day, offices, educational institutions, and other government institutions will remain closed across the province, while Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Day and Christmas celebrations will be celebrated at the official level. On this occasion, tribute will be paid to the services of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and his thoughts and ideas will be highlighted.
Similarly, the Sindh government, keeping in mind the religious sentiments and traditions of the Christian community, has also announced a partial holiday for Christian employees on December 26, 2025, on which Christian government employees will be able to participate in celebrations and worship related to their religious festivals.
This decision of the government is being described as a positive example of protecting the rights of the minority community and promoting religious harmony.
The notification clarified that these holidays will apply to all institutions under the Sindh government; however, departments providing essential services such as hospitals, emergency services, security agencies, and other essential services will be exempted from this holiday. Such institutions will continue to provide their services as usual so that the public does not face any kind of difficulties.
