Punjab approves performance-based allowance for school teachers

LAHORE: It has also approved a performance-based allowance for school teachers across the province to enhance teaching standards and ultimately bring better learning outcomes.

The teachers serving in primary to higher secondary schools would draw a monthly allowance under the new policy, ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,500, depending on their level and performance.

Officials said the initiative aims to reward effective teaching and motivate educators to deliver better academic results.

Allowance by School Level

Primary school teachers would get Rs 5,000, elementary teachers Rs 7,500, and high school teachers Rs 10,000 per month as per the approved structure.

It ranges to a maximum of Rs 12,500 for teachers at the higher secondary level.

According to the Punjab Education Department, the allowance shall target teachers showing exceptional performance. Financial incentives are expected to boost motivation that has a direct bearing on improving student outcomes. Education authorities further asserted that incentives for good teaching will significantly contribute to raising standards throughout the Punjab.
