KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has found approximately 5,000 ghost teachers drawing salaries without actually performing any duties as teachers.

Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah moved swiftly to take service action against these ghost employees and directed their immediate removal from the payroll. Their activities have sucked lifeblood from the whole system.

The department has also announced plans to recruit new teachers to fill in the vacant positions.

This is part of the larger crackdown on absentee teachers that was prompted by reports from the Scrutiny Committee that 1,000 teachers across Sindh had been absent from duty in October 2025.
