Sindh govt unveils free pink scooter scheme for women: Check eligibility here

Free Electric Scooters for Women

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet has approved a scheme to provide free pink scooters to women, a move aimed at empowering them.

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon said that women who have a two-wheeler license will be eligible to get the scooters, adding that the electric bikes will be distributed through a monthly lottery.

He added that female students and working women will be eligible for the electric bikes.

Memon added that women who do not know how to ride a motorcycle will be trained by female instructors. He added that women who get electric bikes will not be allowed to sell them for seven years.

Meanwhile, the government also approved a scheme to purchase double-decker buses and more electric buses for Karachi.

The senior minister said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had promised to provide 180 electric buses through the federal government but the Centre did not provide any funds for the purchase of these buses.

In response to a question regarding MQM leader Farooq Sattar’s criticism of the PPP government, Sharjeel Memon said that Sattar and his party no longer exist.
