Will schools be open in Punjab from tomorrow after winter vacations?

LAHORE: The winter vacation for school students officially ended on January 10, 2025, and this gave rise to rumors about the extension of the vacation due to cold weather.

Parents and school-going students were worried as a notification surfaced online, suggesting that the vacations had been extended till January 18, 2025, amid severe weather systems.

Amid rumors on WhatsApp and other social sites, Secretary Education Khalid Nazir Watto cleared the air by dismissing reports of an extension of the winter vacation for students, saying that the notifications being shared online regarding the extension of the vacations were fake.

Watto confirmed that schools will reopen as scheduled on Monday, January 13, 2025 and urged parents not to get information from social platforms. He stressed that the education department communicates any official updates or announcements through its official social media platforms.

Watto also advised parents and other stakeholders to rely solely on the official page of “School Education Department Punjab” for accurate and timely information.
