QUETTA: Balochistan’s education department has announced the schedule of winter holidays for schools in the cold areas.

The department said the government schools in the cold regions of the province will remain closed starting December 16, 2025, for two and a half months.

This decision comes as part of measures to manage the harsh winter conditions in the region.

In Chaman, the annual examinations of students from first grade to seventh grade have already begun.

Exams are going to be conducted from November 16 to November 24.

The exams of the 8th class will be held under the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education starting from November 24.

Earlier, in Punjab, authorities had declared all reports on school closings or early winter breaks this year circulating on various online platforms as false.

The deteriorating smog fueled rumors of early winter holidays in schools in Punjab. Officials, however, made it clear that no decision has been taken on closing schools or having an early vacation this year in Punjab.

The authorities remind the people to pay attention to official announcements from the Education Department and the Punjab government.

In November last year, on 3 November, the Punjab government had closed schools for a week and then later extended the holidays for another week because of severe smog.

The authorities are keeping a close watch on the weather but have yet to issue an official decision on whether to close the schools.
