AJK health sector gets major boost in Budget 2026-27

MUZAFFARABAD: The federal government has announced significant allocations for the health sector in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the Budget 2026-27, focusing on medical education and healthcare facilities.

According to budget documents, Rs430 million has been allocated for Medical College Mirpur, while more than Rs150 million has been earmarked for Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College Muzaffarabad.

In addition, the government has allocated Rs944 million for the provision of CT Scan and MRI machines in district headquarters and teaching hospitals across Azad Kashmir.

Officials said the funding will help improve diagnostic services, strengthen healthcare infrastructure, and enhance medical facilities for patients across the region.

The allocations are part of the federal government’s broader plan to improve public health services and ensure better access to modern healthcare facilities.
