Why is diabetes increasing rapidly in women?

According to health experts, the real problem is not just the number of patients but the complications arising from it, which are severely affecting women’s health.

According to research data, although the number of diabetes cases is higher in men, this disease causes more serious consequences in women. In the case of diabetes in women, the risk of heart disease, kidney problems, depression and hormonal imbalance increases significantly.

Surprisingly, the risk of heart attack due to diabetes in men increases by about 50 percent, while in women the same risk reaches 150 percent.

Health experts attribute this difference to hormonal changes in women’s bodies. Fluctuations in hormones during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause affect blood sugar levels, which increases the risk of metabolic problems in women.

In addition, lifestyle also plays an important role. Problems such as increased fat around the abdomen, lack of physical activity, stress, hereditary factors, and an unbalanced diet further increase the risk of diabetes in women. In particular, excessive consumption of processed food and fast food is playing an important role in the spread of this disease.

According to experts, diabetes during pregnancy, which is called gestational diabetes, is also a major risk for women. Although it temporarily disappears, the chances of developing type 2 diabetes in later life in affected women increase many times.

Medical experts have advised women to pay special attention to their health, undergo regular medical checkups, adopt a balanced diet, and include exercise in their daily lives to protect themselves from this silent but dangerous disease.
