PARIS: Arshad Nadeem is set to compete for the gold medal in the javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics. He will face defending champion Neeraj Chopra, Germany’s Julian Weber, Grenada’s Andersen Peters and Czech Republic’s Jakub Vidlich.

The match is being played at Stade de France.

How will the winner of the javelin throw be determined?

The final features six rounds, with each athlete allowed one throw per round. At the end of these six rounds, the athlete with the longest valid throw is declared the winner.

World record for javelin throw:

The world record for the javelin throw is held by Jan Zelezny of Czechia, with a remarkable distance of 98.48 meters, achieved on May 25, 1996, in Jena. The Olympic record is held by Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, who threw a distance of 90.57 meters on August 23, 2008, in Beijing.

Twelve athletes including Arshad Nadeem are competing in the final, having earned their spots by finishing in the top six of their respective qualification groups.

According to the official website of the Paris Olympics 2024, Arshad Nadeem’s personal best throw is 90.18 meters.
