New restrictions on social media use imposed on government employees

ٰISLAMABAD: The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued clear and strict instructions for government employees regarding political activities and the use of social media.

According to the issued notification, no government employee will be able to participate in any political meeting, procession or gathering, nor will they be allowed to use their official position or status for political influence.

The Education Department has further clarified that all government employees will be completely banned from any kind of political propaganda, support or opposition even through personal social media accounts.

The notification warns that strict departmental action will be taken against employees who violate the instructions under the rules and regulations, which will also include disciplinary measures.
