PPP’s Awais Qadir Shah elected as Speaker Sindh Assembly

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Awais Qadir Shah was elected as Speaker Sindh Assembly. Awais Qadir bagged 111 votes against Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Sofia Shah, who secured 36 votes on Sunday.

During the secret polling, 147 members of the Sindh Assembly cast their votes to select the Speaker of the legislation assembly.

Sunni Ittehad Council and Jamaat-e-Islami boycotted the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House held today in a provincial assembly session.

Outgoing Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani took oath from the newly-elected Speaker Awais Qadir Shah in the Sindhi language.
