Rain, snowfall likely in Northern Pakistan from Feb 24-27

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted rain, wind, thunderstorms, and rainfall over the hills in Northern Pakistan for Saturday evening/night through Tuesday (February 24-27).

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave will bring a new weather system to the northern regions of Pakistan. On Monday, the upper regions of Balochistan are anticipated to be impacted by a new westerly wave that enters the country on Sunday evening.

Sunday evening/night through Tuesday, tourist destinations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Murree, Galyat, are anticipated to experience downpours, wind, and thunderstorms, accompanied by snowfall over the hills.

Monday evening or night and Tuesday may experience traffic disruptions in the following locations: Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli. It is not possible to rule out the occurrence of landslides in Gilgit Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, or Gilgit.

Along with rainfall, wind, and thunderstorms, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that Sunday night in Murree is expected to have minimal temperatures between -02 and Monday mornings at -01 degrees Celsius.

However, over the past twenty-four hours, low temperatures have persisted in Galyat, Murree, and other popular tourist destinations in Pakistan. Light rain fell in Murree.

Kalam continued to be the coldest location with 12 degrees Celsius below zero. Astore recorded its lowest temperature of -09 degrees Celsius, Skardu -06 degrees Celsius, Gupis and Hunza -05 degrees Celsius, Gilgit and Bagrote -04 degrees Celsius, and Malam Jabba -04 degrees Celsius.

Early in the morning, relative humidity in Murree stood at 56% and the minimal temperature was documented as -02 degrees Celsius.
