SLAMABAD: In a noteworthy move, the Sindh High Court Tribunal has reinstated the nomination documents of former foreign minister and vice chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Additionally covered by the Tribunal’s decision is Zain Qureshi from NA-214 (Tharparkar).

This decision is a reaction to the Returning Officer (RO) rejecting the nomination forms of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister, and Zain Qureshi.

The restoration of the nomination forms has been made possible by the intervention of the Sindh High Court Tribunal, which has effectively overturned the RO’s initial decision.

The restoration holds crucial implications in the political landscape, bringing a renewed opportunity for Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Zain Qureshi to participate in the upcoming electoral proceedings.

The nominations of Shah Mehmood Qureshi from NA 151 (Multan) and NA 214 (Tharparkar) were turned down.

While the nomination papers of 21 other candidates from NA 151 were approved, the papers of PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is incarcerated, were rejected.

The returning officer noted that the PTI leaders’ nomination papers were missing the No Dues Certificate and rejected Qureshi’s and his son Zain Qureshi’s nomination papers.

The nomination papers of Mehr Bano Qureshi, the daughter of Shah Mehmood, and Zain Qureshi, the son, from NA 151 were also denied by the returning officer.
