Known for his flamboyance and massive physique, his trademark blond horseshoe moustache and bandanas, Hogan was widely regarded as the most recognized wrestling star worldwide, the most popular wrestler of the 1980s, and one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
Hulk revolutionized professional wrestling as a family entertainment sport. Before Hulk, wrestling appealed to a relatively limited audience. Hulk’s theatricality in the ring was magnetic to kids and parents, and it fueled the sport.
With the help of defeating the Iron Sheik for the World Heavyweight Championship in 1984, Hogan kick-started a pop culture phenomenon that never subsided, and his trademark bandana and handlebar mustache were copied by fans in crowds for decades.
In 1996, Hulk transformed himself from hero to villain. by creating the NWO — New World Order — and became Hollywood Hulk Hogan. It propelled him and professional wrestling to even more fame.
Hogan had hundreds of classic performances. including a bout against Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania X8 in 2002 and a showdown with Andre the Giant at WM 3 — and had some classic feuds with Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage.
Hulk was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He was withdrawn in 2015 after a scandal emerged about racist comments while he was filmed surreptitiously in a sexual encounter. Gawker published the video, and Hulk successfully sued, and they won.
Hulk was inducted a second time into the WWE in 2020. This time as a part of NWO.
Hulk stole the show at the 2024 Republican National Convention, where he lit up the room with drama.
Hulk’s movie career was incredibly successful, starting in 1982, starring in “Rocky III” as the legendary character Thunderlips. He also appeared in “No Holds Barred,” “Suburban Commando,” and “Mr. Nanny.”
And that’s not all. Hogan appeared on the popular VH1 reality show, “Hogan Knows Best,” with his family. Linda, Nick, and Brooke.
And he says, “What’s amazing about Hulk, he had scores of surgeries as a result of wrestling injuries.” He told Harvey on a taping of “Object-ified” that he had no original body parts left.
