Best budget phones in Pakistan under Rs50,000
ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has announced new customs values for the import of 62 types of used and old branded mobile phones.
According to media sources, the move is aimed at aligning import duties and other taxes with the prices prevailing in the global market.
In this regard, the Directorate has issued Valuation Rolling No. 2035 of 2026, which will be applicable to used mobile phones imported on commercial basis, without packaging and accessories, including well-known brands like Apple, Samsung, Google Pixel and OnePlus.
Officials said that the previous valuation rolling was more than a year and a half old and did not reflect the current global market situation, while many new smartphone models came into the market and old models had completed their useful life, due to which a change in depreciation was inevitable.
The customs authorities have initiated a new valuation process under sections 25 and 25A of the Customs Act, 1969. Under the new rules, used mobile phones imported will be liable to customs duties and other taxes as per the prescribed values, irrespective of the condition or grade of the phones.
Furthermore, the phones will have to be activated at least six months before being exported to Pakistan and importers will have to disclose the activation period, which will be verified by the concerned cessing officers.
