Airspace Closures Disrupt Flights Across Gulf Region, Passengers Advised to Check Status

Airspace Closures Disrupt Flights across the Gulf region after rising tensions in the Middle East.

Thousands of flights have been delayed or suspended. The situation started after joint strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran. In response, Iran carried out strikes on installations in several Gulf countries.

Because of security concerns, most Gulf countries closed their airspace. This decision directly caused major flight disruptions.

Major airport operations have also been affected. Flights at Dubai International Airport were suspended for several hours. Passengers traveling from or through the airport are asked to check updates before leaving home.

Several leading airlines, including Qatar Airways, Emirates, Saudia, and Etihad Airways, advised travelers to confirm their flight status directly with the airline.

What Passengers Should Do

Passengers should first visit their airline’s official website.

Use the “Manage Booking” option and enter the booking reference number. This will show the latest updates about delays or cancellations.

Travelers can also check the official website of their departure airport. The departures and arrivals section usually provides updated flight information.

Another option is to contact the travel agency where the ticket was booked. Agencies often receive updates earlier than public announcements.

If passengers see changes online and the airline offers an “Accept Changes” option, they should read carefully before clicking. Accepting changes immediately may affect compensation rights, such as free meals or hotel stays during long delays.

If airline or airport websites are not working, passengers can use independent flight tracking platforms like Flightradar24. By entering the flight number, travelers can see real-time departure and arrival details.

Airlines also respond to customer questions on their official social media accounts. However, passengers must never share personal details, bank information, or passwords online to avoid fraud.
