Balochistan snow rain disruption continued across the province on Tuesday, leaving one person dead, several injured, and key services badly affected.
Balochistan snow rain disruption caused roof collapses, power outages, and traffic blockages as heavy rain and snowfall hit northern and western districts.
Authorities said weather-related incidents turned deadly in parts of Balochistan as rain weakened structures and snowfall intensified cold conditions.
In Quetta, the roof of a house collapsed in Kali Shahozai Muhammad Shahi Town due to continuous rain. One resident, Liaqat Ali, lost his life, while two others were injured.
In a separate incident, the roof of a shop on Masjid Road in Duki caved in, injuring four people, including the shopkeeper. All injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
Officials said poor construction and prolonged rain contributed to the collapses.
The Balochistan snow rain disruption also affected electricity and gas services in several areas.
According to the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO), rain and snowfall caused 24 power feeders to trip, resulting in outages across many parts of Quetta.
Residents also complained of low gas pressure, making heating and cooking difficult during freezing temperatures.
Heavy snowfall and ice severely disrupted traffic on major highways linking Balochistan with other provinces.
Traffic was blocked or slowed on:
N-50 highway connecting Quetta with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
Quetta–Chaman Highway near Kodak Top
Quetta–Karachi Highway at Lakhpas
Quetta–Sindh route via Kolpur and Dasht
Slippery road conditions raised fears of accidents, especially during night travel and early morning hours.
Teams from the National Highway Authority (NHA), Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and district administrations were deployed to restore traffic.
Officials said snow was being cleared and salt applied at several points, allowing partial restoration of vehicle movement.
Authorities urged travelers to remain cautious as conditions could worsen with further snowfall.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported significant snowfall and rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Recorded snowfall included:
Quetta: 0.5 inches

The Meteorological Department warned that heavy rainfall is expected over the next 12 to 24 hours in coastal and southern districts, including Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni, and Kech.
There is a risk of flash flooding in streams and rivers, while light rain and strong winds are forecast for central districts. Snowfall is likely to continue in northern areas.
Quetta traffic police advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, drive slowly, and watch for black ice on roads.
Motorcyclists were urged to postpone non-essential travel and use safety gear. Citizens were also advised to carry emergency supplies during travel.
Despite the severe cold, many residents and tourists were seen enjoying the snowfall, while authorities stressed the need for caution as harsh weather persists.
