LAHORE: The CM Green Tractor Scheme Phase 3 has officially begun, with Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, launching the program through a symbolic draw. This initiative is set to provide modern tractors to farmers, boosting agriculture productivity across the province.

Under the scheme, the government aims to support small and medium farmers who struggle with high tractor prices. Over the past 25 years, 20,000 tractors were distributed, while 31,000 tractors were provided in just the last two years. The third phase will add another 10,000 tractors ranging from 50 to 65 horsepower.

During the launch, CM Maryam Nawaz personally congratulated the winners of the draw and informed them about their selection. Provincial Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani shared that 427,500 farmers owning five acres of land applied for this phase, highlighting strong demand for government support in acquiring modern machinery.

Tractor availability in Punjab remains low, with only 140 tractors per 10,000 acres, which is far below international standards. Rising tractor prices over the past five years have made it difficult for farmers to invest in new machinery. The scheme aims to bridge this gap, improve farming efficiency, and strengthen the backbone of Punjab’s agriculture-based economy.

The CM Green Tractor Scheme Phase 3 is seen as a landmark move to modernize farming in Pakistan. Officials say the initiative demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing farmers’ livelihoods and ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
