The FIA AI system to track criminals has been launched in Pakistan to identify fugitives in real time. The system was introduced by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to modernise policing, improve suspect tracking, and strengthen law enforcement efforts across the country.

Officials confirmed that the system uses artificial intelligence to update and reconstruct the appearance of wanted suspects. This helps authorities identify individuals even if they try to change their looks to avoid arrest.

FIA Director General Dr Usman Anwar said the technology can generate updated visual profiles from old photographs. It can recognise suspects even after major changes such as shaving their head or growing a beard.

The launch is part of a broader upgrade of the traditional “Red Book,” which previously listed most-wanted criminals. The FIA has now converted it into a digital platform to improve efficiency and access.

Under the new system, the digital Red Book includes detailed profiles of suspects. These records contain information such as family details, known associates, CNIC and passport data, mobile numbers, and bank account information.

The database also includes FIR records, court case status, and distinguishing physical features. Officials said this will help investigators build a more complete picture of suspects.

In addition, the system tracks the methods used by human traffickers. It records their operational routes and last known locations to assist in ongoing investigations.

According to officials, the database currently lists 143 suspected human traffickers wanted in cases registered by FIA’s anti-human trafficking units.

Authorities believe the FIA AI system to track criminals will make it harder for fugitives to escape by altering their appearance. It is expected to strengthen efforts against organised crime and human smuggling networks in Pakistan.
