The focus keyword Hezbollah Merkava tanks attack is now at the center of rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel along the southern Lebanon border.

Hezbollah says it carried out major attacks on Israeli military positions over the past 48 hours. The group claimed it targeted a large number of Merkava tanks in different areas.

According to the group, at least 21 tanks were hit on Wednesday. By Thursday morning, it reported more strikes on around 20 additional tanks. Since March 2, Hezbollah claims the total number of targeted tanks has reached at least 73.

The armed wing of Hezbollah said attacks took place in several المناطق. In Debel, three tanks were reportedly struck with guided missiles. In Al-Qantara, drone and missile strikes targeted Israeli armoured units near key مواقع.

Further عملیات were reported in Taybeh, where nearly a dozen tanks were claimed to be hit. In Deir Siryan, multiple tanks were also targeted during ongoing clashes.

However, independent confirmation of these claims remains limited.

On the other side, the Israeli military confirmed that two soldiers were killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon. This brings the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in recent days to four.

Military analysts say the scale of the Hezbollah Merkava tanks attack is similar to the 2006 Lebanon war. During that conflict, anti-tank weapons were widely used against Israeli armour.

Experts also point out the cost difference. Anti-tank missiles are much cheaper compared to Merkava tanks, which cost millions of dollars and take time to build.

The latest escalation comes after months of cross-border tensions. Hezbollah says its recent attacks followed what it called continued Israeli strikes in the region.

On Wednesday alone, the group claimed it carried out dozens of operations using missiles and drones. This marks one of the most intense days in the current phase of the conflict.
