Iran shoots down Israeli drones as its air defense system reportedly intercepted seven unmanned aircraft attempting to enter Iranian airspace, according to Iranian military officials.
Authorities in Tehran said the drones were detected while approaching Iranian territory. The air defense units responded quickly and destroyed all seven drones before they could reach their targets.
Hundreds of missiles and drones launched
Iranian military officials also shared details about their operations during the ongoing conflict. They said more than 500 ballistic and cruise missiles have been launched so far.
In addition, over 2,000 drones of different types have been fired during the confrontation. Officials described the launches as part of Iran’s wider military response in the conflict.
Targets included US and Israeli forces
According to the officials, about 60 percent of the missiles were directed toward US forces in the region.
The remaining 40 percent were aimed at Israeli areas. Military sources said the operations were carried out as part of Iran’s ongoing campaign.
President addresses the nation
Meanwhile, Iran’s president addressed the nation during the tense situation. In his speech and social media message, he thanked people in Kurdistan for supporting the country during the conflict.
He also expressed sympathy for the families of those killed and injured during the fighting.
Orders to maintain national security
The president instructed governors and armed forces to remain alert and ensure the country’s security.
He directed security agencies to take firm action against any separatist movements and warned that activities threatening national stability would not be tolerated.
