US intelligence says Iran still holds significant Iran missile and drone strength even after five weeks of heavy strikes by the United States and Israel.
According to the latest assessment shared with CNN, around half of Iran’s missile launchers remain intact. Thousands of one‑way attack drones are still in its arsenal. The review comes amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East and repeated US‑Israeli military operations targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
The intelligence report found that many missile launchers have not been destroyed. Some may be buried underground or located in hard‑to‑reach areas that make targeting harder. Despite heavy strikes, these launchers are still present and potentially usable in future attacks.
Sources also told CNN that roughly 50% of Iran’s drone capability has survived the bombardments. These attack drones can be used for long‑range missions across the region.
In addition to drones and launchers, a large number of coastal cruise missiles are believed to remain operational. These weapons are key to threatening shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic global trade route.
The US military has focused its operations mainly on land‑based military targets and production sites inside Iran. It has not prioritized hits on many coastal missile units, which may explain why those systems are still intact.
Officials in Washington have publicly praised strike efforts, claiming major damage to Iran’s war infrastructure. However, the intelligence assessment presents a more complex picture, showing that Tehran still retains a notable ability to strike back if needed.
The continued presence of missiles and drones highlights ongoing tensions and risks in the region. Analysts say these capabilities could influence military and diplomatic approaches in coming weeks.
