ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police Arrest 588 Professional Beggars this year as part of a strict campaign against organized begging in the federal capital. The action was taken under the Islamabad Prevention of Beggary Act to control this growing issue.

According to a statement from Islamabad Police, the crackdown is being carried out on the instructions of Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Police said the operations are targeting not only beggars but also the people supporting these networks.

Authorities said professional beggars often disturb citizens at roads, markets, and intersections. Legal action is being taken to stop such activities and protect the public.

Police also revealed that some people pretending to beg were involved in street crimes. This raised security concerns and increased the need for strict action.

Officials are using Safe City cameras and intelligence reports to trace facilitators. These include contractors and transport providers who help begging groups operate in different areas of Islamabad.

Police said action is also being taken against parents who force their children into begging. Such cases are being handled under relevant laws.

During recent search operations, police checked more than 1,300 people and inspected hundreds of houses. Hotels, shops, motorcycles, and vehicles were also examined. Several suspicious individuals, including foreigners, were shifted to police stations for verification.

Islamabad Police Arrest 588 Professional Beggars as part of ongoing efforts to reduce organized crime. Police have asked citizens to report professional begging and suspicious activities through the emergency helpline Pucar-15.

Officials said these operations will continue to ensure safety and maintain law and order in the city.
