The jet fuel price increase in Pakistan has forced airlines to raise ticket fares for both domestic and international flights. Aviation sources say the rise in fuel cost has directly affected travel prices across the country.
According to airline officials, fares from Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad, and other domestic destinations have increased. Passengers now have to pay Rs2,800 to Rs5,000 more per ticket on local flights.
The jet fuel price increase in Pakistan has also affected international travel. Airlines have raised ticket prices for several overseas routes due to higher operating costs.
Sources say ticket fares for flights from Pakistan to the Middle East and Central Asian countries have increased by up to Rs15,000 per passenger.
For long-haul destinations such as Toronto and Manchester, the increase is even higher. Airline sources report that ticket prices on these routes have gone up by up to Rs28,000 per ticket.
After the recent adjustments, the one-way economy class fare from Pakistan to Toronto or Manchester has crossed Rs250,000.
The rise in fares comes after a sharp jump in aviation fuel prices. According to sources, the price of jet fuel in Pakistan increased by Rs154 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs342 per litre.
Industry experts say the jet fuel price increase in Pakistan is a major cost factor for airlines, as fuel is one of the biggest expenses in aviation operations.
