The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light snowfall northern areas, while most other regions are expected to experience cold and dry weather. The alert covers the highlands and hilly districts, where temperatures will drop significantly during mornings and nights.
In northern regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, isolated showers of rain and snow may occur in the coming days. Neighboring districts, including Chitral and surrounding valleys, are also likely to experience brief periods of precipitation under partly cloudy skies. These areas are expected to remain very cold, particularly during early mornings and late nights.
Islamabad and its surrounding areas will continue to see dry weather. Chilly mornings and evenings are expected, with gusty winds developing during the day. Similarly, much of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain cold and dry, with higher altitude districts experiencing the lowest temperatures.
Punjab is forecast to remain largely dry. Hill stations like Murree and the Galiyat region are expected to stay cold, although daytime winds could pick up in central and southern plains. Sindh, including Karachi, is predicted to have mostly dry conditions, while northern Balochistan will face colder nights and mornings despite overall dry weather. Kashmir will remain partly cloudy, with low nighttime temperatures adding to the winter chill.
Over the past 24 hours, PMD recorded extremely low temperatures in northern areas, including −9°C in Leh, −5°C in Astore, and −3°C in Kalam. Several other high-altitude locations recorded temperatures around −2°C.
Officials warn that the current cold and dry spell will continue for the next few days. Mountainous northern areas remain the most vulnerable to snowfall and freezing conditions, while other regions should prepare for persistent cold and occasional strong winds during the day.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated on weather warnings and take precautions against low temperatures.
