Pakistan disinformation campaign has been exposed after reports revealed a coordinated effort using fake social media accounts. The campaign aimed to spread negative narratives against Pakistan on different platforms.
According to sources, dozens of fake accounts were created with Iranian identities. However, their activity was reportedly being operated from India and Afghanistan. These accounts shared misleading content in the name of Iran to damage Pakistan’s image.
Reports further revealed that the campaign started from accounts named “INN Iran News” and “Iran TV.” These so-called ghost accounts generated artificial reactions online. Later, the same narratives were amplified by other accounts allegedly linked to Afghanistan.
In this Pakistan disinformation campaign, false claims were also spread accusing Pakistan of helping oil supply to the United States. Analysts say such allegations were baseless and part of a wider propaganda strategy.
Experts believe the main aim of this campaign was to make Pakistan controversial at the global level. It also tried to portray the country as part of an anti-Iran or Western agenda, especially at a time when Pakistan is playing a role in regional peace.
Analysts have warned that such disinformation campaigns can create mistrust and division not only in Pakistan but across the Muslim world. They say the long-term effects of such propaganda can be harmful and dangerous.
