Pakistan Qatar economic ties moved closer to a stronger strategic partnership after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha on Tuesday.
The meeting took place during the prime minister’s official visit to Qatar. Both leaders discussed ways to expand cooperation in key sectors. These included trade, investment, energy, defence, and labour opportunities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the meeting as warm and productive. He said both countries agreed to transform their traditional friendly relations into practical economic cooperation for mutual benefit.
A high-level Pakistani delegation also attended the talks. It included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. The leaders reviewed progress in political and institutional cooperation.
The two sides agreed to activate a joint task force. This step aims to speed up cooperation and ensure real progress in agreed sectors. Both countries also stressed the importance of implementing past agreements.
Regional peace and stability were also discussed. Leaders exchanged views on the Middle East situation and other regional developments. Pakistan appreciated Qatar’s diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and reduce tensions.
The meeting reflects growing trust and partnership between the two countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-term cooperation and closer coordination in future.
