Petrol and diesel prices have been increased by the federal government for the next 15 days.

The Petroleum Division issued a notification on Sunday confirming the new rates. The decision follows recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

According to the notification, high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs. 5.16 per litre. The new price of diesel is Rs. 280.86 per litre. Previously, it was Rs. 275.70 per litre.

The government has also increased petrol by Rs. 8 per litre. The new petrol rate is Rs. 266.17 per litre for the upcoming fortnight.

These revised petrol and diesel prices will take effect from March 1, 2026. The new rates will remain in force for 15 days. After that, prices will be reviewed again based on market conditions.

Officials said global oil markets reacted strongly after the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran. Rising tensions in the Middle East pushed international commodity markets into uncertainty.

As Pakistan imports petroleum products, any change in global oil prices directly affects local fuel rates. Authorities will reassess the situation in the next review period.
