President Zardari emphasized the need to safeguard Pakistan from internal and external threats during a public address. He said hostile forces are attempting to destabilize the country, but the unity of the people remains Pakistan’s strongest defense.
Highlighting the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) role, he said the party represents national unity and carries the vision of Quaid-e-Azam forward. He added that true leadership requires courage, responsibility, and resilience, rather than fear or retreat.
The president also announced the establishment of a medical university in Sindh. Approval in principle has been granted to benefit the local population through improved healthcare education and facilities. He stated that he would coordinate with the Prime Minister and Sindh Chief Minister to ensure the project progresses smoothly.
Addressing agriculture, President Zardari stressed that effective population management can turn into national wealth. He urged farmers to improve irrigation systems and maximize crop yields, emphasizing the potential of fertile land in the region.
Recalling his previous tenure, he highlighted the focus on South Punjab’s development, noting that significant budget allocations were made to strengthen the region. He paid tribute to the late Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, whose political vision continues to inspire public support.
President Zardari also warned against efforts to mislead youth in Balochistan and undermine national unity. Local party leaders praised the PPP’s strong support in South Punjab and highlighted improvements in law and order through coordinated government efforts.
The event saw attendance from prominent political figures including Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider, MNAs Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mahmood and Makhdoom Syed Murtaza Mahmood, and provincial ministers. Condolences were also offered for the recent passing of MPA Mumtaz Ali Chang’s mother.
