The Punjab Airline first flight is set to begin in April, as the provincial government confirms the launch timeline for its own airline.
Officials said the airline will start operations with seven aircraft in its initial phase. This step marks Punjab’s entry into the aviation sector with a provincially owned carrier.
During the first two years, the airline will focus only on domestic routes. This period will help the airline establish its services and operational strength within Pakistan.
After completing the domestic phase, the airline plans to expand to international destinations. This expansion will depend on the airline’s performance and readiness.
Authorities also confirmed that the chief minister’s current helicopter will become part of the airline’s fleet. No separate aircraft will be purchased for official travel.
For official trips, the chief minister will use the airline’s aircraft. The government says standard commercial fares will be paid to ensure transparency.
Officials added that both existing and newly acquired aircraft will operate commercially. The aim is to maintain financial sustainability and avoid extra burden on public funds.
The Punjab Airline first flight is expected to play an important role in improving connectivity and supporting the province’s aviation growth.
