The Punjab Laptop Distribution program is expanding further as Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launches distribution in the Gujranwala Division on Monday. The ceremony will be held at the University of Gujrat, marking another step in the province-wide rollout.
The announcement was made by the provincial education minister. He confirmed that the government is continuing the laptop scheme in different divisions to ensure students benefit from modern learning tools.
This initiative is part of the government’s wider plan to improve access to technology for students. Officials say the program is being implemented phase by phase across Punjab so that students in every region get equal opportunities.
Earlier, the government extended the deadline to apply for the scheme until February 28, 2026. The extension allowed more students to submit applications through the official online system.
The eligibility criteria have also been updated. Students studying in private universities can now apply for the scheme. However, they must have secured at least 65 percent marks to qualify for a free laptop.
This change is seen as an important step toward inclusiveness. Previously, the scheme focused mainly on public sector students. Now, private university students also have a chance to benefit.
Education officials say the goal is to support higher education by giving students better access to digital resources. Laptops can help students in research, online classes, and academic work.
The provincial government is organizing distribution ceremonies in each division. This approach helps ensure smooth delivery and proper management of the program.
The latest Punjab Laptop Distribution event in Gujranwala Division reflects the government’s continued focus on education and digital empowerment. More ceremonies are expected in other divisions in the coming weeks.
