Punjab has officially launched the One App digital traffic system, marking a major step towards modernizing traffic management in the province. The initiative was unveiled by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday and is being hailed as Pakistan’s first comprehensive evidence-based traffic enforcement platform.

The app allows authorities to issue e-challans for traffic violations, accompanied by verifiable video evidence. Citizens can scan a QR code on their e-challan to view the video and confirm the details themselves. Officials say this feature will promote accountability and reduce disputes over traffic penalties.

The integrated platform enables traffic officers to instantly verify vehicle ownership, fitness certificates, route permits, and the identity of drivers. It also provides access to stolen vehicle records, previous criminal records, and the status of FIRs. Authorities can use the system for environmental and encroachment violations, extending its scope beyond routine traffic enforcement.

Officials confirmed that a second phase will introduce a point-based penalty system. Serious violations could also result in FIR registration, ensuring stricter law enforcement. Muhammad Waqas Nazir, a government spokesperson, said the app guarantees transparent and unbiased enforcement, relying solely on digital evidence rather than personal discretion.

The launch of the One App digital traffic system reflects Punjab’s commitment to using technology for law enforcement. Authorities expect it to improve efficiency, reduce corruption, and increase public trust in traffic management. Citizens are encouraged to register with the app and review any challans digitally to stay informed about their obligations.

This initiative positions Punjab as a leader in adopting smart traffic solutions in Pakistan, combining accountability, technology, and law enforcement in one platform.
