Punjab University has introduced a QR code-based fee payment system, becoming the first public sector university in Pakistan to adopt this digital solution. The move comes after the university signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JS Bank to implement Zindigi’s Raast Dynamic QR platform.
The MoU signing ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Vice Chancellor’s Office. PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali and senior JS Bank officials formalized the agreement. Under the new system, students can pay tuition and other university fees directly through mobile banking apps using a dynamic QR code.
The QR code-based solution allows real-time payment processing, reduces manual handling of challans, and enhances transparency and efficiency in financial transactions. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali highlighted that the university aims to modernize administrative processes and make payments faster, more secure, and convenient for students and parents.
“This initiative supports our vision of a cashless, paperless campus,” he said, noting that it will help reduce long queues at banks and streamline fee collection.
JS Bank representatives emphasized that Zindigi’s Raast Dynamic QR system is State Bank-compliant and enables instant interbank transfers. They expressed confidence that this collaboration would strengthen Punjab University’s digital infrastructure and promote financial inclusion for students.
The new QR code-based fee payment system marks a significant step toward digitization in higher education, ensuring smoother operations for both students and the university administration.
