Ramadan 2026 fasting hours in Pakistan began on Thursday, with Muslims across the country observing their first fast. Some countries, however, started Ramadan a day earlier on Wednesday based on moon sighting.
Fasting duration varies across regions due to geographical location and seasonal changes. This year, the holy month falls between late winter and early spring in the northern hemisphere, making the fasting period relatively moderate.
In Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, Muslims will fast for about 12.5 to 14 hours during Ramadan. The duration will slowly increase as the month progresses because daylight hours become longer.
Across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, fasting time will average between 12 and 13 hours daily. Similar fasting hours are expected in many Arab countries and parts of Asia.
In Europe and North America, fasting will begin at around 12 to 13 hours. However, Muslims living in northern areas such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and Scandinavian countries will experience longer fasts lasting between 14 and 16 hours.
Meanwhile, Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Malaysia will observe fasting for about 12 to 13 hours. In contrast, countries in the southern hemisphere, including Australia, South Africa, Chile, and Argentina, may see fasting hours between 13 and 15 hours at the start of Ramadan.
Astronomical estimates show fasting hours will increase slightly toward the end of Ramadan worldwide. These changes are part of the natural seasonal shift that affects sunrise and sunset timings.
Overall, Ramadan 2026 fasting hours in Pakistan and other countries remain manageable compared to previous years when Ramadan fell during peak summer months.
