Pakistan’s security forces kill 13 terrorists during several intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out on March 6 and 7 in different districts of the province. The actions were part of an ongoing counter-terrorism campaign by the armed forces.
During one intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district, troops targeted a terrorist hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, five terrorists were killed at the site.
In separate encounters in Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan, security forces also engaged militants linked to what the military described as Indian proxy Fitna Al Khwarij. Three terrorists were neutralised during these clashes.
Meanwhile, two more engagements took place in Khyber and South Waziristan districts. In these operations, troops killed five additional terrorists, bringing the total number to 13.
The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants. Officials stated that the terrorists were involved in several attacks in the region.
The ISPR added that Pakistan is facing security challenges along the border with Afghanistan. Security forces continue to carry out operations to prevent militant activity in border areas.
The statement said that security forces remain determined to protect the country and eliminate terrorism. Sanitisation operations are also underway to clear the area of any remaining militants.
According to the military, the counter-terrorism campaign under the national vision “Azm e Istehkam” will continue to remove the threat of foreign-supported terrorism from Pakistan.
