12 security personnel killed in major terrorist attack on Fateh Khel police post

DI KHAN: In Bannu, terrorists rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the Fateh Khel police post late last night, killing 12 personnel. According to the police, three personnel were pulled out alive from the wreckage.

DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan visited the DHQ Hospital late last night and visited the injured personnel. Talking to the media at the hospital, DIG Bannu Region said that the morale of the Bannu police is high, the terrorists will never succeed in their evil intentions.

A police spokesman in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said that terrorists rammed a vehicle loaded with explosives into the Fateh Khel police post on Saturday night. As a result of the attack, 15 police personnel have lost their lives so far while three have been injured.

A statement issued by the office of Bannu’s Range Police Officer Sajjad Khan said that the attack resulted in the collapse of the post and several police personnel were buried under the rubble. According to the police, three personnel were pulled out alive from the rubble.

He said that the rescue operation is still ongoing. The post is located within the limits of Bannu’s Mandan police station and police personnel and police vans have been attacked in this police station and the same area before.

According to the police, the bodies and injured have been immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu. The statement said that the area has been completely cordoned off and rescue and search operations are still ongoing.

Bannu’s Rangel Police Officer Sajjad Khan told Reuters that 15 policemen were on duty at the post at the time of the attack. On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the attack on the Fateh Khel post and directed to ensure the provision of best medical facilities to the injured.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has made great sacrifices by being in the forefront against terrorism. They will not let the sacrifices of the martyrs go in vain. They will end the scourge of terrorism and die.

DIG Bannu said that this will prove to be the last cowardly act of the terrorists. Bannu Police will selectively bring the terrorists to justice and ensure their complete elimination from the area. According to the police, the search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
