73rd Birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed being observed today

KARACHI: The 73rd birthday of the first female Prime Minister of the Muslim world, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, is being celebrated today.

Bhutto’s daughter was unparalleled in leadership ability, negotiating with opponents and running the affairs of the state. Like her name, the daughter of the East, Benazir Bhutto, remained unparalleled in ability, intelligence, courage, wisdom, and decision-making until her last breath.

She is counted among the prominent women of Asia who bravely faced difficult situations. From studying at Oxford University in the UK, Benazir Bhutto began traveling abroad to difficult situations.

Born on June 21, 1953, in Karachi, Benazir, the daughter of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, served as Prime Minister of Pakistan twice. She was the most influential woman in South Asia and the first female Prime Minister of the Islamic world.

After returning home after studying at Oxford University in the UK, Benazir Bhutto started going on foreign trips with her father, Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

In 1977, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s government was overthrown. When a case was filed against her, Benazir Bhutto kept roaming the courts.

In 1982, Benazir was elected as the Chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party. During the government of General Zia-ul-Haq, she had to go into exile.

Upon her return, she participated in the 1988 general elections and was elected Prime Minister.

On October 18, 2007, Benazir Bhutto returned home after 9 years during the government of General Pervez Musharraf and was martyred by unknown persons after a rally in Liaquat Bagh on December 27, 2007.
