‘Afridi 1’ becomes most expensive plate in KP auction

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government held an auction of personalized number plates at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, in which number plates were sold for crores of rupees.

In the ongoing auction for the allotment of choice number plates by the Excise and Taxation Department, ‘Afridi 1’ has been bought at the highest bid so far.

The said number plate was bought by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi for Rs 14 million and 50 thousand.

The second-highest bid among the auctioned number plates was placed on ‘Khan 1’, which resembles the name of the founder of PTI, which was bought by PTI MPA Naik Muhammad Khan from Waziristan for Rs 11 million.

804 number plates were removed from the auction; number plates named after Zardari, Sharif, and national cricketers will come up in the next auction.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Excise Department announced the auction of personalized vehicle number plates.

The base price of Imran Khan-1 and Imran Khan-804 number plates has been set at Rs 1 million.

According to the Excise Department, the bidding for these special number plates will be held in Peshawar on January 27.

The number plates will also be auctioned in the names of tribes.

The Excise Department says that these number plates will be attributed to different tribes and famous names, including Wazirs, Mehsuds, Khattak One, and Mohmands.

In addition, number plates will also be auctioned in the names of Khan, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Swati, Arbab, Khalil, Afridi, and Yousafzai 1.

The Excise Department says that special number plates will also be issued in the names of Malakand, Abbottabad, Kohat and Bannu.

The basic bid amount for the unique number plate has been set at Rs 1 million.
