New Currency Notes Pakistan to Enter Circulation After Cabinet Approval

New currency notes Pakistan will be printed after final approval from the federal cabinet, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) confirmed on Monday. The central bank said preparations are complete, and printing will begin once the cabinet clears the designs.

The update was shared by SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad during a press conference following the monetary policy announcement.

Governor Jameel Ahmad said the redesign and approval process has reached an advanced stage. He confirmed that two to three different denominations will be printed simultaneously after cabinet approval.

The designs have already been submitted to the government and forwarded to the federal cabinet for review.

How New Currency Notes Pakistan Will Enter Circulation

According to the SBP, new currency notes will be introduced gradually. The central bank will first build a minimum stock before replacing existing notes in phases.

This approach is aimed at ensuring a smooth transition without disrupting cash circulation.

Denominations Yet to Be Announced

The SBP has not disclosed which denominations will be issued first. Currently, Pakistan’s currency includes Rs10, Rs20, Rs50, Rs75, Rs100, Rs500, Rs1,000, and Rs5,000 notes.

Officials said further details will be announced after the cabinet completes its review.

Cabinet Review of Currency Redesign

Earlier this month, the Prime Minister’s Office said the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reviewed proposals related to new currency notes Pakistan and formed a special committee to examine the matter.

The redesign process follows modern standards and includes input from international experts.
