MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Kashmir’s Minister for Information, Peer Mazhar Saeed Shah, on Tuesday announced his resignation from office, citing unavoidable reasons, days after he returned from participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla campaign.
Addressing a press conference at the PID Complex in Muzaffarabad, Peer Mazhar expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Anwarul Haq, for the trust reposed in him.
He also thanked journalists and officers of the Information Department for their cooperation during his tenure.
“I am grateful that you [journalists] all have supported me since May 2024 till today. I also thank the Prime Minister who trusted me,” he said.
Saeed also sent a resignation to the AJK Prime Minister, stating that “due to some unavoidable reasons, I am submitting my resignation from the office of the Ministry of Information.”
In its letter, the minister expressed gratitude to the premier for allowing him to fulfill the responsibilities of the Ministry of Information.
“With all my possible abilities, I have tried my best to serve the state and national interests, a transparent information system, and a positive representation of the government. I have done my best,” he wrote.
Addressing a press conference, the minister clarified that his resignation was not driven by any grievances.
“I have no complaints or differences with the Prime Minister. I am resigning purely due to unavoidable reasons,” he stated, adding that he hoped to remain associated with the media fraternity even after leaving office.
Reflecting on his term, Peer Mazhar said he tried to serve in line with national issues and public interests. He highlighted his efforts to present the case of Kashmir and Gaza on international platforms.
“I represented the cause of Gaza and Kashmir before forty-five countries of the world and participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla to raise the voice of the oppressed,” he maintained.
