KARACHI: A special anti-terrorism court has sentenced four individuals to death in a case involving the abduction, rape, and murder of two young children.
The verdict, delivered at the Anti-Terrorism Complex in Karachi Central Jail, found the accused guilty of abducting and murdering the children. In addition to the death penalty for abduction and murder, the court imposed life sentences for the rape charges on all four defendants.
They were also ordered to pay Rs2 million each to the victims’ families and fined an additional Rs50,000 each.
The convicted individuals are Qurban, Imran, Ramzan, and Wasim, while perpetual arrest warrants have been issued for the fugitive, Raju.
The prosecution established that the accused kidnapped eight-year-old Shehbaz and ten-year-old Hassan from outside their home, demanding a Rs50,000 ransom from their parents.
The children were subsequently murdered and their bodies were abandoned at separate locations. Two separate cases were filed against the accused at Sohrab Goth and Site Super Highway police stations on charges of abduction for ransom, murder, rape, and terrorism.
Such cases are reported daily in Pakistan where several police operations are done to arrest the culprits but not every individual gets justice in this country.
